Otis Redding Handwritten Lyrics

Otis Redding handwrote these working lyrics that he titled "Getin Up Running" in blue ballpoint pen on the back of a 7.25 x 10.5 sheet of Downtown Motor Inns stationery. In very good condition, all the lyrics are clearly legible. Otis did most of his writing in his motel rooms. Whenever he was in Memphis to record at Stax Records he would record all day and then go back to his motel room and write all night. These lyrics were part of the Capricorn Records/Phil Walden, Sr. Archives owned by the Walden Family. Phil Walden, Sr. was the founder and President of Capricorn Records and he guided the careers of Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers Band, among many others, playing an instrumental role in the development of the 70’s phenomenon of Southern rock. The paper is creased and shows on the edges where it was probably pasted in a scrapbook. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
